Crow Canyon Now Accepting Applications for 2018 College Field School

College Field School

Attention all college students (or family and friends of college students): Applications are now being accepted for the Crow Canyon Archaeological Center's prestigious College Field School!

The College Field School—certified as RPA-5 by the Register of Professional Archaeologists—is an immersive, five-week experiential learning program set for May 20–June 23, 2018, and is led by Dr. Susan Ryan, Crow Canyon’s director of archaeology.

Students in the program will have an opportunity to gain practical experience in the field and laboratory techniques necessary for a career in professional archaeology, all while working alongside some of the leading experts in Southwest archaeology. This includes archaeological site identification and recording, excavation, and basic artifact processing and analyses, as well as instrument surveying and remote sensing surveying techniques.

Crow Canyon's College Field School program also includes a number of evening programs, field trips, service learning projects, and public events to give students real-world opportunities to learn about and practice archaeology.

Undergraduate and graduate students in the College Field School program may enroll for up to six credit hours through Adams State University in Colorado. The priority application deadline is March 2, 2018.
