Earthwatch Volunteer Chooses Crow Canyon for 100th Expedition

Warren Stortroen

Crow Canyon was proud to welcome Earthwatch Institute volunteer Warren Stortroen to campus as he celebrated his 100th expedition with the organization.

Stortroen, a frequent participant of Earthwatch programs at Crow Canyon, was honored with a party in his honor where he was presented with a commemorative gold trowel by Crow Canyon's Director of Archaeology Dr. Susan Ryan, along with a special cake prepared by Crow Canyon chef Tammy DuFrene and her kitchen staff.

"I can't tell you enough what a pleasure it has been to work with you," Ryan told Stortroen at the event. "I can't think of anyone who is more deserving of the accomplishment you've created in your lifetime."

According to Earthwatch, Stortroen's 100 expeditions have stretched across 28 countries around the globe.

The Earthwatch Institute, a not-for-profit environmental organization, connects interested volunteers like Warren with scientific research programs like Crow Canyon. Earlier this year, Earthwatch volunteers selected Crow Canyon's "Uncovering the Mysteries of Ancient Colorado" out of more than 40 others as the Best Expedition of 2016.

Congratulations to Warren, and thank you to all of our Earthwatch participants!
