The policy of the Crow Canyon Archaeological Center (“Crow Canyon”) is to respect and protect the privacy of visitors to www.crowcanyon.org (“the Website”). This policy explains what information we collect from users of the Website and how we use the information. Use of the Website signifies your agreement with the terms of this policy.
The Website can be visited without registering or providing information to us. Registering your user name and password when signing up online for a Crow Canyon program will enable you to maintain your personal information on file to allow forms to self-populate during the sign-up process. Personal information is stored on the Crow Canyon database, hosted by Blackbaud, Inc., a third-party service provider that delivers services to Crow Canyon related to the collection and security of personal information and financial transactions.
An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer or other device when you use the Web. Crow Canyon uses IP addresses to administer and audit the use of the Website. A visitor's session will be logged, but the visitor generally remains anonymous to us. IP addresses are used by our website analytics programs. We can and will use IP addresses to identify a user of the Website when we determine that it is necessary to protect the Website from hackers or other unauthorized users.
The type of personal information collected from you may vary depending on the nature of your transaction with us. We will collect information such as your full name, address, zip code, e-mail address, and password if you choose to register online. You will also need to provide credit card information for financial transactions, such as when signing up for a program or making a donation. We will keep your personal information for our records and for your use in future transactions. We collect only the personally identifiable information that is required for us to complete a transaction or deliver information, products, or services to you. Crow Canyon uses industry standard security measures to protect against the loss, misuse, or unauthorized alteration or release of personal information stored in electronic form. All information collected is used solely by Crow Canyon. It will not be sold to, or shared with, third parties. We will disclose personally identifiable information only when the law requires us to do so.
Crow Canyon welcomes children to learn more about archaeology and American Indian history and culture through the Website. Our online interactive educational products occasionally ask children to answer questions; their responses are not personally identifiable but are retained as aggregate visitor statistics. Crow Canyon does not knowingly collect personal information from children under thirteen years of age.
