Structure 12-S, masonry surface structure

CONSTRUCTION

Method and Sequence

Structure built on a ledge underneath cliff overhang. Only construction observed is the south and east walls, and an isolated wall segment. The south wall is abutted by the east wall. The south wall may have been part of the south wall of the second-story room to the west (Structure 21-S). North of the west wall is a wall segment that is oriented northwest-southeast. A concentration of clay rests adjacent to and east of the wall and may be construction sediment. The wall segment may be a remnant of the north wall or a masonry feature within the structure. See masonry screens for architectural details of walls. Overhang probably served as roof of the structure.
