Specific Location
East-central portion of Block 1100; in 2-x-2-m units 657N 379E and 658N 380E.
Selection Criteria
2-x-2-m unit 658N 380E encountered an extramural, slab lined pit feature (Feature 1) in the southwestern portion of 2-x-2-m unit 658N 380E. 2-x-2-m unit 657N 379E encountered a portion of Feature 1 in the northeastern portion of the unit.
Use
This surface represents an extramural use area in which a slab-lined pit (Nonstructure 1102 Feature 1) was constructed.
Abandonment
No evidence.
Postabandonment Process
Surface and feature were covered by natural sediments and was disturbed by plowing.
Dating of Construction
Two tree-ring samples from the feature dated from A.D. 986+vv to A.D. 1199vv. Based on tree-ring dating and pottery data, this surface was used during the early Pueblo III period.
Dating of Remodeling
None evident.
Dating of Abandonment
This surface was probably not used after the early Pueblo III period.
