Nonstructure 1317, extramural surface
About this Nonstructure
General Location
East-central portion of site.
Specific Location
East-central portion of Block 1300; within 2-x-2-m unit 553N 649E.
Selection Criteria
Placed southeast of Structure 1307 to sample associated midden deposits. Exposed Nonstructure 1317, Feature 1.
Use
This is an extramural surface from which Nonstructure 1317 Feature 1, a pit not further specified, was excavated. A corrugated jar was placed in the pit.
Abandonment
Natural sediments accumulated on the surface and into the pit (Feature 1) after the surface was no longer used. It is unknown when the surface fell out of use.
Postabandonment Process
Natural sediments accumulated in the pit and on the surface after they were no longer in use. Plowing activity truncated the surface and the corrugated jar.
Dating of Construction
No data is available to date the use of the surface. It is possible that the surface and pit are contemporaneous with Structure 1307, located northwest of Nonstructure 1317. Structure 1307 dates from the Pueblo II period.
