Central portion of site.
Specific Location
West-central portion of Block 100. Above Structure 136.
Selection Criteria
Encountered in Backhoe Trench 133 which was excavated to test a remote sensing anomaly.
Use
Ephemeral surface into which burial pit (Feature 1) was excavated for the internment of Human remains occurrence 3 (Feature 2).
Abandonment
This surface was no longer used after Human remains occurrence 3 was interred. The body was interred with McElmo Black-on-white vessels indicating that the burial took place in the early Pueblo III period. The same fill that was excavated for the burial pit was placed over the remains. Natural sediments accumulated over the redeposited fill.
Postabandonment Process
The surface was disturbed by plowing.
Dating of Construction
Based on pottery data, this surface was used sometime in the early Pueblo III period.
Dating of Remodeling
None evident.
Dating of Abandonment
This surface was no longer used after Human remains occurrence 3 was interred. The body was interred with McElmo Black-on-white vessels indicating that the burial took place in the early Pueblo III period.
