Nonstructure 235, extramural surface
About this Nonstructure
General Location
Central portion of site.
Specific Location
West-central portion of Block 200; exposed in Backhoe Trench 227.
Selection Criteria
Encountered in Backhoe Trench 227 during testing of remote sensing anomaly that exposed Nonstructure 235 Features 1 and 2.
Use
This is an inferred extramural surface from which a burial pit, Feature 1, was excavated for the interment of Human remains occurrence 4.
Abandonment
This surface was abandoned in the Pueblo III period after the interment of Human remains occurrence 4. No artifacts were left on the surface.
Postabandonment Process
Secondary refuse (Nonstructure 233) was deposited above the surface and burial. Natural sediments accumulated over the refuse. The surface, refuse, and natural sediments were disturbed by plowing.
Dating of Construction
This inferred surface was used during the Pueblo III period (based on pottery from Nonstructure 233 fill).
Dating of Remodeling
None evident.
