General description
One cornerstone was shaped to a 90-degree angle and set in mortar on bedrock.
Use history
It is not known to what kind of feature or structure this stone belongs. It seems unlikely that only one course would be left of a structure wall, but the type of feature that would contain a wall like this is unknown.
Excavation procedure
Not excavated, exposed only.
Portion excavated
Only the portion within Segment 6; feature continues outside excavation unit to the east.
Horizontal location
Along the east edge of Segment 4; 1.1 m south of Structure 1224 of the great tower complex.
Vertical location
On an extramural surface (Surface 1), bedrock.
Construction
Only one stone and some mortar are observable, the remainder of the feature is outside the unit to the east. The stone is carefully pecked to a 90 degree angle and, from the portion exposed, appears to be either square or rectangular. The block is set in an abundant amount of orange-brown construction sediment, which anchors it to bedrock.
