General description
Shallow corner hearth.
Use history
Formally constructed hearth. It may have been added to the room after original construction, presumably to be used for heating, lighting, and/or cooking. The fires in the hearth probably were neither large nor intense.

Construction
Sandstone slabs/blocks were placed on the bedrock floor, then coped with a tan silt "mortar," which formed a rounded interior surface. The north and east sides are formed by the room walls.
