||South part of the site.
||South of the roomblock in Architectural Block100.
||To sample midden in this architectural block.
||This area was used for the deposition of refuse, and is probably continuous with Nonstructure 103 (midden). Most of the refuse was probably deposited by residents of the roomblock in this architectural block, but some artifacts could predate this block.
||This refuse was churned by recent looting activity.
|Dating of Midden
||Most of these deposits had been churned by recent looting activity and rodent burrowing. The pottery types found include both late Pueblo II and Pueblo III sherds. Pueblo III White Painted sherds were found near the bottom of the midden in possibly undisturbed sediment. If in situ, this would indicate that the earliest deposits in the midden were made after A.D. 1100. The presence of Mesa Verde Black-on-white sherds within the midden indicates that refuse was being deposited after AD 1180.
