ABOUT THIS NONSTRUCTURE No Data about Surfaces
No Masonry Data
General Location Central part of the site.
Specific Location South of the roomblock in Architectural Block 500.
Selection Criteria To sample midden associated with this architectural block.
Use This area was used for the deposition of refuse, probably by the residents of the nearby roomblock.
Abandonment Abandoned when occupation of this area ended.
Postabandonment Processes All but the lowermost 7 cm of refuse was mixed by recent looting activities.
Dating of Midden This 55-cm-thick midden contains both Pueblo II and Pueblo III pottery. Pueblo III White Painted sherds are present in the lowermost (and undisturbed) 7 cm of refuse. This indicates that the earliest deposits occurred sometime after A.D. 1100. The remainder of the refuse has been churned by recent looting, but contains Mesa Verde Black-on-white pottery. Thus, at least some (and perhaps all) of this refuse was deposited after A.D. 1180.
Date Range 2 (A.D. 1100–1225)
