Structure 121, masonry surface structure
About this Structure
General Location
South face of butte.
Specific Location
Sandwiched between Structure 122 and butte face.
Interpretive Type
Storage room.
Structure Use
Storage cubby, based on inferred low height of roof and irregular interior space, limited access, and very small doorway between this room and Structure 119. A complete abrader was recovered from the floor, and three manos and an additional abrader were recovered from near the poorly preserved floor; these items were probably stored in the room.
Dating
Abandonment
Some items were probably removed when the room was abandoned, or scavenged after occupation of the village ended.
Postabandonment
Either refuse was being deposited in this room during occupation, or the room was reused after the main occupation, possibly in association with the latest floor in Structure 122 (a substantial amount of eggshell was recovered from both the refuse in Structure 121 and from the latest floor--Surface 1--of Structure 122. Very little eggshell was recovered elsewhere on the site.
