Structure 1202, aboveground kiva

About this Structure

General Location

In the great tower complex.

Specific Location

Adjacent to, and south of the great tower bi-wall structure.

Interpretive Type

Structure Use

Few data on which to base an interpretation of use, other than the kiva architectural style and the presence of a bench-face niche. The presence of the niche suggests some ritual use of the structure, but does not preclude domestic use.

Abandonment

Prior excavation destroyed evidence of abandonment events.

Postabandonment

Structure was excavated and backfilled during a Western State College field school excavation in 1931.
