Structure 1203, aboveground kiva
About this Structure
General Location
In the great tower complex.
Specific Location
Adjacent to, and southeast of the great tower bi-wall structure.
Interpretive Type
Structure Use
Use could not be determined because testing was halted. However, a kiva-like use can be tentatively inferred on the basis of the type of architecture that was exposed. Also, possible mutual access and therefore some type of association between this kiva and the unnumbered bi-wall room adjacent to the northwest is possible, because there may be a tunnel or passageway between these two structures.
Dating
Abandonment
Prior excavation destroyed evidence of abandonment events.
Postabandonment
Excavated and backfilled in 1931 by Western State College field school.
