Structure 1206, aboveground kiva

About this Structure

General Location

In the great tower complex.

Specific Location

6 m east of the great tower bi-wall structure.

Interpretive Type

Structure Use

Few data on which to base an interpretation of use, other than kiva-style architecture. No artifacts are thought to have been found in situ. Presence of niches in the bench face suggest some ritual use of the structure, but do not preclude domestic use.

Abandonment

Prior excavation destroyed evidence of abandonment events.

Postabandonment

Structure was excavated and backfilled in 1931 by Western State College field school.
