Structure 1006, masonry surface structure

About this Structure

General Location

Block 1000, northeast quadrant of site.

Specific Location

South of Nonstructure 1000 (courtyard), west of Structure 1007. At least some, and possibly all, of Structure 1006 is probably below Arbitrary Unit 1014 (although upper wall fall associated with Structure 1006 might have been removed as part of the arbitrary unit).

Interpretive Type

Storage room.

Structure Use

This room is inferred to have been used for storage on the basis of the very small size of the structure, and on the absence of floor features and floor artifacts. Because no roof fall was documented, and because this room is unusually small (even for a storage room), it is possible that this room was never roofed.

Abandonment

The room was abandoned in a leisurely manner while occupation of the suite continued.

Postabandonment

Several layers of clean fill and secondary refuse were deposited in the room, then the upper portions of the wall collapsed into the room and additional sediment was deposited naturally.
