Structure 211, masonry surface structure
About this Structure
General Location
Block 200, west edge of site, west-northwest of plaza.
Specific Location
East of Structure 206; west of southern recess of Structure 208 (kiva).
Interpretive Type
Storage room.
Structure Use
A few tools, as well as a few partial and mostly-complete vessels, were found in roof fall and on the floor. The very small size of this room, the absence of doorways (indicating a hatchway entry), the absence of floor features, and the mostly-bedrock floor all suggest that this room was not used for habitation. It is inferred, then, that it was probably used for storage. Like Structures 205 and 206, this room might have been associated with the unnumbered kiva suite to the south rather than with Kiva Suite 208; evidence of this is the doorways in the south walls of those two structures and the location of Structure 211 adjacent to those rooms.
Dating
Abandonment
Few items were left on the floor, suggesting that abandonment was leisurely. The absence of trash in the fill suggests that the room was abandoned when the kiva suite was abandoned.
Postabandonment
The roof and upper walls collapsed naturally, and sediment also accumulated naturally.
