It is not clear how this room was used. There is no hearth, which suggests that the room was not used for habitation. A variety of usable vessels, and ground stone and flaked stone tools were left on the floor at abandonment. The large, floor-level doorway would have been difficult to seal against weather and vermin, and so the room was probably not used for the storage of foodstuffs, but could have been used for any of a number of other activities. The room might have originally been the western portion of a single, larger room that included Structure 505 (adjacent to the east). Doorways in the south and west walls provided mutual access between this room and the courtyard, and between this room and Structure 507.

Unclear. There were numerous usable vessels and stone tools on the floor. Thus, numerous usable items were neither taken by the residents nor scavenged by others. Also, there was no secondary refuse in the room fill. Both of these circumstances suggest that this room was abandoned at the same time as the kiva suite--which appears to have occurred at the same time the village was abandoned. Abandonment of the suite could have followed a ritual interment in Structure 501 (kiva), could have resulted from a warfare event, or from some other, unknown cause.

Sediment was deposited naturally on the floor prior to wall collapse--the fate of the roofing material is unknown. The field notes report that there was no evidence of roofing material in the structure fill; however, it seems possible that the stratum of clean fill resting on the floor surface (PD 374, called "postabandonment erosional deposit) could have been the sediment portion of the roof, and the beams could have been removed for reuse.
