Crow Canyon's one-of-a-kind Wild Food Adventure Cultural Explorations travel seminar is gathering a lot of attention, and you can be part of the excitement as you learn from some of the top chefs working in the Southwest today.

Wild Food Adventure is a six-day travel seminar focused around the Santa Fe area and the pueblos of northern New Mexico. Participants on the program will have the opportunity to learn about wild edible plants and herbs with scholars who will teach a variety of ways to eat healthy while connecting with the Southwest landscape and culture. Highlights include walking tours in the spectacular Sangre de Cristo mountains of northern New Mexico to identify foraged foods with experts, hands-on cooking lessons with native chefs, and rare insights and lessons about the traditions and ritual practices of the Pueblo people.

The Durango Herald recently published a feature on the Wild Food Adventure program, interviewing seminar scholar Norma Hutch (co-owner, with her husband, Hutch Naranjo, of The Feasting Place in Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo near Santa Fe, New Mexico) along with Crow Canyon's Director of Cultural Explorations Sarah Payne.

“It’s not all working with the food,” Norma Naranjo told the Herald. “We also talk about how we plant and grow things in our region. I’m going to be talking about how our diet and lifestyle changed when the Spaniards came and conquered the pueblos.”

“When I participated in this workshop last year with Norma, it was amazing to learn how many different ways you can prepare these central ingredients of corn, beans, and squash,” said Payne in the article. “The beauty of a program like this is it brings together participants who come from all over the globe with diverse backgrounds and cultural roots.”

In addition to the Naranjos, the scholars for the Wild Food Adventure include Karlos Baca (Diné, Tewa, Nuche), Lois Ellen Frank, Ph.D. (Kiowa), Walter Whitewater (Diné), Colin Shane, and Katrina Blair.

Space for the Wild Food Adventure is limited. For more information on how you can be a part of this incredible opportunity click here or call 800-422-8975, ext. 457.
