Desireé Reneé Martinez is a Tongva (Gabrielino) community member and the Tribal Relations and NAGPRA/CalNAGPRA Director at Cal Poly Pomona. With over 26 years of experience in repatriation efforts, cultural site protection, Indigenous ethnography, and museum collaboration, she has worked nationally and internationally to ensure Indigenous voices shape cultural narratives. She is an organizer and member of Nohaaxre Miyii Pokuu’ (Weaving As One) the Tongva Basket Weaving Collective, and a member of Ti’at Society, the Tongva Maritime organization, and Tongva Tribal Archaeologists.
