Dr. Ben Steere is a Professor and the Department Head of Anthropology and Sociology at Western Carolina University (WCU) in Cullowhee, North Carolina. He directed WCU’s Cherokee Studies Program from 2017–2022. His research and teaching are focused on the archaeology of the built environment in western North Carolina and collaborative and community-based archaeology.
