Katie Williams

2024 Postdoctoral Scholar

Katie Williams (B.S., Chemical Engineering, Colorado School of Mines; M.A., Anthropology, University of New Mexico; Ph.D., Anthropology, University of New Mexico) is a postdoctoral geospatial scholar at Crow Canyon. Born and raised in Albuquerque, NM, Katie is also an enrolled member of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma. Her dissertation research focused on examining the organization of architectural labor at alcove communities in Northeastern Arizona, but she has also worked in other parts of the U.S. Southwest and is excited for the opportunity to work at Crow Canyon and to spend time in the Colorado portion of the Four Corners. Her research and field experience to date has combined her interests in heritage conservation, materials science, labor organization, community construction practices, community distribution across the landscape, and earthen architectural materials. When not working, Katie enjoys spending time with her two dogs, eating green chile, and catching up on books, movies, and tv shows.
