Preservation

Archaeological sites deserve our respect and need our protection. These sites are sacred places for Native American people. When you visit an ancient site, here are some of the things that you can do to help save these important places:

DON'T

• dig!
• climb on any walls
• collect any artifacts or move them from their original locations
• carve or paint your name or graffiti anywhere
• make camp or build campfires in or near the site

DO

• enjoy the site
• photograph or sketch artifacts and architecture
• leave things the way you found them
• pack out your trash
• stay on trails
• respect this ancient home
